Next Wednesday,
June 6th at 3pm Jennifer Durden
will present a practice run of her Marine Life Talk: Plastic Planet.
Abstract
Plastic has become ubiquitous in
the developed world in the last 60 years, and much of it ends up as waste in
our oceans: up to 95% of marine waste is plastic debris. This talk will
cover how this waste gets in to our oceans, where it collects, and how it
directly and indirectly affects the marine food web, and ultimately
humans. A reduction of plastic debris is one of the most easily
attainable improvements that we can make to the marine environment, and ways
for you to help will be discussed.
